Challenger Mobile Communications is an independent communications specialist who offer a diverse range of telecoms solutions.

Challenger Mobile Communications was established in June 1991 by Jeff Eamens and Wayne Skellon. Both partners of Challenger had previously gained invaluable communications experience and decided to use their knowledge to greater effect by founding their own company in an attempt to meet the demand for mobile communications.

Whilst the popularity in mobile phones rapidly grew, we opened retail outlets around the North West.  We aimed to offer a full communications package tailored uniquely for the individual, providing a wide range of mobile phones, accessories and tariffs.

 Just prior to the introduction of Pre-Pay phones, it was decided that the direction of business needed to be focussed again towards the corporate sector.  At this point, further Field Sales Executives and Telesales Executives were employed to increase sales in the local area.

 It was decided that Challenger should concentrate on sales that were more on a regional basis, whereas a requirement for sales on a nationwide footing was needed.  This was the main reason that in April 1999, Jeff and Wayne launched Direct Mobile Solutions and Tariffcheckers, which were focussed on attracting customers by lower running costs and cheaper phones, whilst Challenger still maintained to concentrate on the Customer Services issues.

Due to the overall success, more and more staff were employed and with the need for all divisions to be in one place it was necessary to relocate to larger premises in order to facilitate with the accommodation.

In October 2000, all Challenger Mobile Communications staff were transferred to premises on Deeside Industrial Park, which has now become the centre of operations for the company.

In December 2005 Challenger Mobile Communications and Tariff Checkers division merged into one company. The decision was made after careful consideration ensuring a positive impact on the individual clients of both companies.

The Challenger Mobile Communications group is now one of the five largest independent Business-to-Business specialists in the UK.
